Kyoto, Japan

I spent my final day in Kyoto intentionally getting lost and winding down tiny side streets along with the locals. I bumped into a few a few geishas and maikos in Gion, stopped off for drinks at a few of the small bars, and found myself in the middle of what seemed to be a continuing Gion parade with most of the men now half drunk and in their underwear.

After a few days in Kyoto it was clear that it was a pretty magical place and in many ways it feels like it remains the spiritual capital of Japan with its mixture of ancient and cutting edge colliding at every turn. The city is filled with some truly breathtaking sights and really wonderful people and is really one of the greatest highlights of my Japanese adventure.
