San Francisco the cloudy city

Homerun 754.

There was no way I'd think about coming to San Francisco and not catching a ball game, especially with Barry Bonds 2 homeruns away from the all-time record. AT&T ballpark is a perfect place to see a game- it's walking distance from downtown, has better food than most small cities, and is right on the water with a marina behind it.

The media was ever-present in the park due to the history*. I have to say I feel strange about Bonds breaking the record and I really hate being part of the generation with an asterisk next to it. It's very unsettling with all the drug allegations but being at the ballpark and feeling the excitement of the hometown fans helped me come to terms with it. When Bonds hit homerun #754 with his first at bat the stadium roared like I've never seen. The excitement was palpable and the standing room area went from a line of people to a New York subway.

The game was one of the best I've seen in a while with the Giants beating out the Marlins and the fireworks after the game were really spectacular (the game was dedicated to raising funds for AIDS charities).
