Berkshires Lenox, MA

It's fitting that I saw Colin Meloy of the Decemberists perform the day before coming up here because the old-timey music rang in my head and echoed the spirit of the town well. It's Americana at it's finest: home-sewn clothes shops, well-learned artisans, happy, smiling children everywhere- it was like a Brothers Grimm fairytale before the black moment. The speed of the town was about 11 miles per hour and it made me realize I was running around 70.

The people of Lenox were also pretty quick on their feet. They were funny, insightful, and I think it may have been mandatory to read the Globe or the New York Times in town because everyone was up on the daily news. I also don't recall ever seeing so many Obama signs in my life, even out in New York
