San Francisco the cloudy city

San Fran South .

After a terrific week in Union Square I checked myself into a small hotel near the airport in South San Francisco. It was like a fall from grace after the posh existence at the St. Francis but it gave me an opportunity to meet some of the locals.

My cab driver said the walk to Starbucks was "too dangerous" at night so after dropping me off at the hotel he volunteered to drive me over for free (this I have never heard of). It cost me fifty dollars for a cab ride back into town but unfortunately much of the city closes early so I hung out at the lounge on top of the Marriott hotel. It's a terrific panorama of the city and I bumped into some broadcasters coming back from the baseball game which was fun.

I spent an hour or two at the lounge and went for one last walk around the city. After midnight I grabbed a cab back to my new lo-fi abode and packed up for my early departure.
