Berkshires Lenox, MA

The air approaching the town of Lenox, M.A. was dreamlike in its crisp woody ease. The townspeople carry on a tradition of burning their leaves after yardwork. The aroma was beautiful as we passed through the trees into the small town. The town is known for its art and music, most notably it's the home of Tanglewood (the historic summer retreat for the Boston Symphony Orchestra). I have always heard that I'd like it but the photographs I've always seen were of Barns and grass so I had imagined it was simply a retreat in the woods, not a small, cultured town.

I chose to stay in one of the historic Bed and Breakfast's instead of the local hotel for the wedding because- hey I'm on vacation! I choose the B&B for "foodies" because I'm a glutton when it comes down to it and I was happy with my choice. The area was so quaint and relaxing, a well needed respite from the daily trips to Manhattan I've been on. I made friends with one of the B&B's seeing-eye dogs and wondered around the town for a day.

There are a few terrific little arts and books shops in town, the owners and patrons are all outwardly friendly and fun. I felt like I was living in a Norman Rockwell painting, that was until I learned he was from the neighboring town.
